They were all interested in&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Operations_research\" target=\"_BLANK\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Operations Research<\/a>&nbsp;(OR). The Finnish Operations Research Society (FORS) was founded as a result of that meeting. Presently we have close to 240 members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FORS was founded to promote and advance OR in our country and to serve as a link between people interested in this field. This purpose is still valid today, over 30 years later. The main activities of the society are seminars, excursions, training courses, and conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September 2023, FORS organized an anniversary conference, FORS50, to celebrate its 50th anniversary. More information is found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.operaatiotutkimus.fi\/index.php\/fors50\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We use our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.operaatiotutkimus.fi\/index.php\/infors-blog\/\">INFORS blog<\/a> to inform the members of future activities. Also firms can use our channels to give information on the latest developments in our field. We also keep a mailing list through which we try to transmit the latest news concering the society. We are on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/operaatiotutkimus\">Facebook<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/groups\/2767157\/\">LinkedIn<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The international perspective has always been central in the activities of the society. We are a member in the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS) and the Association of European Operational Research Societies within IFORS (EURO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.operaatiotutkimus.fi\/index.php\/liity-jaseneksi\/\">Become a member!<\/a> As a member, you are entitled to participate in our seminars at an affordable membership price.
